De Svenska banden The Hellacopters och The Baboon Show sällar sig till musiker som ställer in USA-besök av rädsla för komplikationer efter Trump-administrationens tillträde.
9 till 13 maj skulle The Hellacopters enligt planerna ha varit med på festivalen Little Steven’s Underground Garage Cruise i USA. Bland årets artister på den av E Street Band-gitarristen Stevie Van Zandt startade festivalen/kryssningen finns Social Distortion, X och Reverend Horton Heat.
Men The Hellacopters har nu ställt in resan. På sociala medier skriver man:
”Due to ongoing travel and border complications in the US we have been forced to cancel our trip to the upcoming Little Steven’s Underground Garage Cruise (…) We are regretful and angry but sadly not surprised”.
Det innebär det andra inställda USA-besöket samma vecka av ett svenskt band. Tidigare i veckan skrev The Baboon Show på sina sociala medier om deras inställda resa:
”US fans and friends!
We sadly have to inform you that we won’t be able to come over to play neither Punk Rock Bowling or the announced club shows. We’ve read several horror stories about how Swedish and other EU citizens have been denied entry into the USA. People have been detained up to over 24 hours without any explanation and then being sent home again. Several EU countries are even advicing their citizens not to travel to the USA right now. Under these circumstances The Baboon Show are not able to go to the USA. Music has no borders, but countries do. We’re really sorry for the inconvenience this might cause for some of you beautiful people who maybe already planned and booked trips to come see us. The Baboon Show believe in freedom of speech. Enjoy the festival and continue blasting our music loud in the face of all fascists and imperialists!”
Tidigare i år har ett antal internationella klassiska musiker ställt in sina USA-datum av liknande skäl.
I mars sa artisten Neil Young hade han såg omvända problem, en osäkerhet om han kommer att släppas in i USA efter sommarens framträdanden i Europa, de första för honom på sex år. Young sa:
“When I go to play music in Europe, if I talk about Donald J Trump, I may be one of those returning to America who is barred or put in jail to sleep on a cement floor with an aluminium blanket,” Young wrote. “That is happening all the time now. Countries have new advice for those returning to America.”
