Fever Ray, Tove Styrke och Jens Lekman är några av de svenska artister som återfinns på internationella kritikerlistor över 2017. Låtar med svenska låtskrivare och producenter finns det ännu fler av.
MI har sökt sig runt bland internationella bloggar och musiktidningar på nätet i jakt på svenska placeringar på kritikernas årslistor. Här är några av svenskarna som gjort sig ett namn utanför Sveriges gränser 2017.
Tove Styrke: Say My Name
#11 på Rolling Stone ”50 best songs of 2017”: ”A fiendishly catchy song about an instant crush, sung with wild Nordic verve by this onetime Swedish Idol also-ran. ”Say my name/Wear it out like a sweater that you love,” Styrke teases just before the playful digital-guitar riff hits. It’s the best pop hook about cozy winterwear since Weezer’s ”Undone (The Sweater Song).”
Jens Lekman: Life Will See You Now
#12 på Rolling Stone 20 Best Pop Albums of 2017: ”Swedish singer-songwriter Jens Lekman’s storytelling reached a new pinnacle on his fourth record, which combines stories of personal rebuilding and reflection with joyous dance music (the steel drum-assisted What’s That Perfume That You Wear?, the giddy Wedding in Finistere) and shimmering synth-pop (Postcard #17). In a year where even the biggest pop titans got down with introspection, How Can I Tell Him was a track that stood out for its searing thoughtfulness; its string flourishes and gently strummed guitars framing Lekman’s tale of male friendship and its communication breakdowns (”We can talk about anything/As long it’s about nothing,” he sighs). The song ends with the singer thinking – but not saying – ”I love you, too” as his pal bikes away.
Tove Lo: Blue Lips
Följer Jens Lekman som #13 på Rolling Stones albumlista: ”Tove Lo is not subtle. The Swedish pop star’s carnal demands are so raw and raunchy that she makes K. Michelle sound like Taylor Swift /…/ Lo swaggers through a world of dreamy synth whooshes and sleazily skittering beats, boasting of her bisexual prowess on Bitches (”Bitches, I don’t trust ’em/But they give me what I want for the night”) and trying to determine whether the high she experiences on Romantics is the chemical effect of lust or drugs. Under all that dirty talk, though, there are hints of vulnerability and a desire for emotional openness – or, as she puts it, ”The struggle is real/When you don’t tell me how you feel.”

Fever Ray: Plunge
# 12:a på Stereogum The 50 Best Albums of 2017:
These are the first lines that the Knife’s Karin Dreijer sings on Plunge: “I wanna love you but you’re not making it easy/ I wanna love you but it’s not easy.” These are the last: “The final puzzle piece/ This little thing called love/ The missing thing called love/ A little thing called love.” In between, she pokes and prods at human sexuality and desire from every angle, disemboweling all normative conceptions of love with surgical precision. Her icy synthscapes and Scandinavian snarl still sound alien and sharp, but for the first time, they’re also startlingly human — whatever that means.
Låtarna To the Moon And Back och IDK About You är även med på Pitchforks lista över årets låtar, som #44 respektive #19.
Även Esquire listar IDK About You som en av årets 50 bästa låtar: ”On IDK About You, Dreijer takes full command of what sounds like a frenetic hook up. It’s a tumbling, chaotic, and breathless night of lovemaking, which brings new meaning to the idea that you never really know someone until the two of you have sex. It’s a song of pure sexual expression, an idea that feels so depressingly threatened in this era we find ourselves in.!
Charlie XCX Boys, med produktion av Jerker Hansson (TEN), finns också med på Esquires lista. Den är dessutom #2 hos NME, #10 hos Pitchfork och #35 på Billboard’s Top 100 Picks.
Frank Ocean Chanel, producerad av svenska duon Jarami, finn också på Esquires lista ”50 Best Songs of 2017”. Chanel är även #6 på Pitchforks lista, medan Oceans Biking, även den en Jarami-produktion, är #33 där. Biking är även #58 på Billboard’s Top 100 Picks där Chanel är #26.
Kornél Kovács är #15 på Mix Mags lista över årets bästa DJ:s: ”The Swede consolidated his position as one of the top draws in the DJ world this year thanks to his unique sets full of off-beat instrumentation and minor chord musicality – proof of an appetite for something different that was characteristic of crowds in 2017.”
Taylor Swift: Reputation med produktion av Max Martin, Shellback, Oscar Holter, Oscar Görres och Ali Payami är #3 på Rolling Stone 20 Best Albums 2017. Gorgeous är #23 på Billboard Top 100 picks.
Max Martin är även inblandad i Pink Beautiful Trauma, som är #20 på samma lista.
Zedd & Alessia Cara: Stay, skriven och producerad av Noonie Bao och Linus Wiklund, är #17 på Billboards Topp 100 picks.
Childish Gambino: Redbone, producerad av Ludwig Göransson, är #14 på samma Billboardlista.
Katy Perry: Chained To The Rhythm driven och producerad av bl a Max Martin och Ali Payami finns på NME:s ”Track Of The Year” som #17.
